Trucking: Start up, bob stephens, trucking company

Question
Before I sign on with a company how can I find out if they pay on time or any negative feed back about the company for own operators?

Answer
Hi Denise.

I don't know of any "record" with that information.  There are a ton of companies that check the credit rating of brokers and shippers, but trucking companies is a little harder.  A good way to tell is talk to the other owner-operators, if possible.  In my view, if they were ever late in getting paid, you move on.  I would do a background check on the company and see how long they've been in business and their yearly revenue.  In Florida, you can look that up online.  Honestly, if a trucking company slow walks it's drivers, it won't be around too long.  If you get slow walked on pay, when your current, move on.

Good luck!
