Bob,

I'm looking for operating costs for dump trucks that would haul aggregates supplies.  I'm trying to estimate all fixed and variable costs of operating a truck in order to validate rates being charged.  Specifically I'm looking for annual maintenance costs, insurance, taxes, etc.  Any suggestions of where to obtain this data.

Hi Jamie.

This is 4 years old, and is based on tractor-trailer operations, but it gives you a list of all your fixed and variable expenses on page four.

You'll have to plug in data with regards to many of your costs.  It really depends on the condition and age of your truck, credit, driving record, etc.  Things that you can make a few calls and fill in easily.  This web site has a great dump truck forum that should help you out too...
