Nissan Repair: Nissan Sentra XE 1994, nissan sentra xe, nissan sentra

Question
I have a '94 Nissan Sentra XE.  Just recently a fusable link under the dash went, resulting in a slow drain on the battery.  After about 6 hours, the battery would be completely dead.  I took it to my mechanic (not a Nissan Dealer), and he discovered the blown fusable link. However, when I got the car back, there were two new, and I suspected related problems.
1.  The Airbag dashlight stays lit.
2.  The two point automatic seat belt system operates only when the ignition is turned on, whereas it should bypass the ignition and operate whenever the doors open and close, regardless of whether the ignition is on.
Is it possible that another fuse or fusable link is responsible for this? Or did the mechanic make a mistake putting everything back together?  Are these two items on the same circuit?

Answer
Mark,

The body control module is probably defective since it runs the two items indicated.  But, to be sure check out the fusable links at the positive battery post first.  If these check out then you need to get someone with a scantool that does airbags and have them check the code.  The problem could be as simple as a defective limit switch on the seatbelt motor.  Check it out and get back with me.  Yes, the two items are controlled on the same line but different fuses.
