Trucking: MCC number and MC number, motor carrier number, arizona department of transportation

Question
Hi,

What is the difference between a MCC number and a MC number?  We're a "for-hire" transportation company and we do business in more than one state and haul in more than one state.  We have a MC number but I'm trying to figure out if we need a MCC number as well.

Thank you,

Answer
Hi Karla.

MCC is old and no longer used.  You want MC numbers.  That is your Motor Carrier number for hauling Interstate loads.  You'll need your DOT and ICC/MC numbers.  I assume you have your base plates and IFTA sticker.  You should be set, but contact the Arizona Department of Transportation for final approval.

Good luck!
