Trucking: Dump Truck target markets, mini excavator, target markets

Hi, I currently own some heavy equipment (skid steer and mini excavator). I am tired of making other people money by ordering dirt and rocks from them. I am wanting to by an under cdl dump truck. My question is, what can I do or who can I target to maximize the trucks earning potential? Other than private jobs, how can I keep the truck working? Thank You in advance, Donnie.

Hi Donnie.

I would simply contact local paving, construction, and excavating companies.  They will all have a need for all your equipment AND a dump truck.  A smaller dump is hard to get jobs with the DOT or dump companies as an added income.  Focus on every company where you live that have a need for only a couple of loads here and there.  He in Florida, paving companies would keep you busy year around tearing out old driveways and hauling them away.  It may be something else where you live.  Start to network and stop in some companies and drop off your business card (when you get the dump).  Then, keep calling on them.  One day, they call you back and now your foot is in the door!  Soon, the truck will be real busy.  The key is to network and don't be afraid to sell!
