Trucking: first time starting hot shot trucking, hot shotting, f250 diesel

i am 20 years old and have just heard of hot shoting. from the first time that i heard about it i wanted to do it. but now i am lost and i have no idea where to start. i know that i want to use my f250 diesel and just put the cargo in the bed of the truck if possible but i don't know about the licenses that i need or how to get jobs. i live in texas outside of dallas if that helps. i am willing to do jobs outside of texas also. any information you can give me will be appreciated. thanks

Hi John.

Your going to need more than the bed of your truck to haul loads.  True Hot Shotting requires a good size trailer.  It all depends on what you want to haul.  Many guys haul cars or construction equipment.  In your area, hauling equipment for oil fields is popular.  

Go to www.expeditersonline.com and look into their forum.  They have a ton of information on what you'll need to do to get started.

You need to contact the Texas DOT to get all your permits and numbers to be legal.  Get cargo/liability insurance then contact local load brokers for loads.  Sites like www.getloaded.com have loads too.
