Trucking: Flashing Lights, trucking school, directing traffic

Question
Is it true that if a trucker in front of you signals to pass into your lane, you can flash your lights to him letting him know he can pass in front of you? And does he "thank you" by flashing back? Do they teach that in trucking school?

Answer
Hi Gina, Yes, Some do this as a courtesy to let the truck driver passing it is safe to pull back in front of you. Especially in bad weather and at night. Then the driver will usually blink all his lights as a "Thank You".
This is not taught in driving school as it could be considered as "directing traffic" and if involved in an accident, you might be held responsible legally.  Be sure if doing this , keep it safe.  Good Luck  J P Long
