To answer your question, I'm not familiar with the oil field loads. I have been asked that before. I get some of my loads off of www.getloaded.com. It may work for you, it may not. Getting to know the bigger brokers in your area will be your best bet. They will be the key in meeting the shippers and recievers. Then, you can haul for them directly.
You may choose to lease out. I'm not sure, but you can contact companies like Hodges Trucking and see if they lease out. That is, if you wanted to run for someone. There website is www.hodgestruckandcrane.com.
Another way, which involves more work. Is get a hold of oil field equipment suppliers. Offer your services to them directly. If you go to www.superpages.com and type in "oil fields" in the keyword box with "Oklahoma" as the state, a lot pops up. Now you can start calling the of the people in your area. I hate working with brokers if I can get the load directly and pocket more money. If nothing else, they may tell you what broker(s) they work with. Sure this is a pain, and takes time. I've gotten some great, regular runs by cold calling though. I've had to stop by businesses many times to even get to talk to the big boss. Its paid off for me though and many call me directly now. Give it a try!
