Trucking: expediting, commodity area, van operators

I have a sprinter/cargo van and presently haul for a couple local small companies as a independent owner/operator. Most of the time I do not have return loads. Do you know of any companies that try to keep van operators loaded? Also, is there a particular commodity area better than others?

I don't know of any companies that keep van operators loaded, sorry.  I would become my own salesman. I would look for courier companies first.  They may be able to give you some loads.  Offer your services to companies near you and drop off a business card.

I would stop at moving companies, paper companies, various distributors and inquire.  Finally, check online at http://www.expeditersonline.com/ for some additional help.
