YOU WILL NEED TO GET YOUR MOTOR CARRIER AUTHORITY FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO HAUL INTERSTATE. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE LIABILITY AND CARGO INSURANCE BEFORE YOU CAN QUALIFY FOR THE AUTHORITY. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO OBTAIN A B O C 3 DOCUMENT. I CAN GIVE YOU A LINK THAT WILL GET YOU THE B O C 3 BUT YOU WILL NEED TO GET YOUR INSURANCE ON YOUR OWN.
Answermc authority is $300.00
Insurance requires 25% of the annual cost upfront
B O C is $35.00 one time fee.
That is the direct startup costs as far as getting started.
There are numerous other permits you will need to begin operating. Things such as IFTA, New Mexico tax I D Number, New York heavy use tax number, Kentucky weight distance tax number and Oregon as well.
What you are taking on is not easy but it is certainly possible to do.
