Trucking: profits in the trucking industry, good businessman, mileage rate

Question
How much can a company driver OTR make throughout the year with intensive driving 6 days of the week all the time no need to go home, and
How much with the same working framework a Owner-operator will make for the year.
Also how much miles will average per week if the driver is very intensive and it is on the road all the time noe need to go home (let say leave in the truck)
Thanks

Answer
A company driver OTR is usuall paid by the mile, so you want to work for a coompany that will give you the most miles that you can run legally.  Owner-operators are paid a higher mileage rate or sometimes a percentage of the load, but then you have the cost of operating not only a truck but a business as well.  If you are a good businessman and know how to control costs you can probably make more as an owner operator, but if you just want to drive and let someone else worry about the fuel, oil, tires, tags, insurance, etc. then company driver is better.  Here are couple of good reference articles: http://www.careeroverview.com/truck-driving-careers.html

Either way I would expect you can make $50,000 and up driving full time.
