Trucking: farm trucks, cdl license, farm trucks

Question
I farm in Oregon and have purchased two International 9200 tractors in Oklahoma.  I would like myself and one employee to fly out and drive them home.  What legalities and or penalties are there for doing so.

We both have farm endorsements, not CDLs.
We will be using a cardlock for fuel stops.
Both trucks will have "not for hire" emblems.
The trucks are already on my farm insurance.
Do we have to stop at scales?
How should I license these trucks?

To me, driving these bobtail trucks home is no different than grandpa and granma driving a diesel motor home across the country.  I have spoke to dmv and dot authorities and no one can give me a definate answer.  Please advise.

Answer
Hi David, First, if at all possible, get an Oregon farm  license for these tractors and take tags with you to put on these trucks. Also you will need Fuel Permits from Oregon. According to Oregon's website: "odot.state.or.us/trucking", you will not need CDL license if the trucks will be operated within 150 of your farm and within state and used to haul farm products, and or equipment to and from the farm ..  The phone for vehicle registration in Oregon is
(208)334 8611.  If you have Oregon farm tags on tractors and copies of bill of sale with you showing just bought trucks, should not have any problems in other states.
Without trailers, probably would not have to stop at scales. To be safe, may stop at first one in each state and ask about need to stop.  GOOD LUCK . J P Long
