Trucking: no pay for driver, quality drivers, procedural issue

Question
hi..i have a friend who is working for werner now. of course, he is long-haul. for the past 2 months, he has not gotten paid. they tell him that they never got his receipts. he and his wife are about 600 dollars in the hole right now. today he was here on a vist, and we started with the BBB, and went from there. he made several calls to different people, trying to report this behavior on the part of warner. now, my question is, what do you recommened he do to make them pay him for the last 2 months?  are there any federal or state places he could report that to?  thanks much!

Answer
I don't have any personal knowledge of Werner's business practice, but if they did this to all of their drivers they wouldn't have them any more.  Sounds like a case of lost in the mail, maybe within their office.  Best suggestion I could make is get copies together of all of the documents and make direct contact with your dispatcher or driver manager and explain that you want to get to the bottom of it and get paid.  You may have to resend documents and find out if there is a procedural issue that you need to follow in the future.  You should be able to expect to get paid weekly for the runs completed and there has to be a system in place to make that happen.  As easy as it is to swich to another carrier and as hard as it is to find quality drivers they should be willing to work with you to get the process ironed out.  Best of luck.
