Trucking: Hauling Diesel, csx locomotives, dry vans

Question
Hi John,
Having a few years experience driving "dry vans" over the road, I am thinking about applying for a local position driving a tanker hauling diesel fuel for CSX locomotives.
Is hauling diesel fuel somewhat safer than transporting gasoline. I am a little fearful of the flammability of gasoline.
 Thanks for any advise.

Answer
Good morning Mike !

I do not have significant experience in tanker hauling. I can, however, state that if it were me, I would consider hauling diesel fuel as it's relatively stable.

Gasoline on the other hand, has a far lower flashpoint and is an accident waiting to happen.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

John
