Truck Repair: Cummins N14 fault code 325,injector circuit, cummins n14, electronic control module ecm

Question
i have a 97 celect plus with a fault code 325. low power, 40mph max full throttle under load.I changed the fuel filter and noticed it was almost empty. ran it a few minutes and still had the fault code flashing on the dash. I removed the fuel filter again after letting sit 5 minutes. it was low. I put some water on on the exhaust manifold and started it up to see which cylinder wasn't evaporating the water as quickly, in hopes of it indicating which cylinder wasn't getting hot. but they all seemed to do the same. Is it possible that it could be sucking air in a fuel line and causing this fault code ..thanks ahead of time.

Answer
CODE REASON EFFECT
Fault Code: 325
PID: S006
SPN: 739
FMI: 5
LAMP: Yellow
SRT: 00-605

No current detected at Number 6 injector return pin 4 of the actuator harness connector when the voltage supply at pin 13 of the actuator harness connector is on.

Engine speed derate to 1400 to 1600 rpm. Current to injector is shut off.

Injector Circuit

Circuit Description
The injector solenoid valves are actuated by the electronic control module (ECM) to control fuel metering and timing. Each injector solenoid is connected to the ECM by a supply and a return wire. An electrical pulse is sent to the injector from the ECM on the supply wire and returns to the ECM on the return wire after actuating the solenoid. Each solenoid valve is normally open, and it is only closed by an electrical pulse from the ECM during fuel injection and metering.

Component Location
The N14 has an external actuator harness. It extends from the C connector port in the ECM and runs along the left side of the rocker boxes. There it attaches to the pass-thru connectors mounted in the side of each rocker box. The injector pigtail connectors are attached to the internal side of the pass-thru connectors.

Shop Talk
Inspect the injector pigtail wires, and make sure no wires are shorting to ground against the push rods or push tubes.
Examine the injector pigtail nuts, and make sure they are tightened down to the proper torque. Confirm that the pigtail nuts and solenoid posts do not have damaged threads.

If the 325 is still active , then contact a Cummins repair shop for proper electronic troubleshooting.
