Truck Repair: 1995 v6 silverado, caliper brakes, wheel speed

Question
i have a 1995 silverado v6 my abs light is on and after you drive it for awhile the brakes on the front passanger tire smell. replaced caliper brakes and brake hose but there is no change...can you tell me whats wrong?

Answer
Hi Jose,
First things first you need to have the abs code read so you know where the problem is, there may be an issue with one of the abs valves not allowing the fuid to return after an aplication. try jacking up front end (chock rear wheels and apply e brake, and always use jack stands) and get the front wheels spinning and have someone make an application (engine running in neutral)after they release the pedal try to spin the passenger wheel. this will log another abs code because it sees that the wheel speed is not same as the rear but turn the ignition off and back on and it should be cleared..only the original code will be active. It is possible that the abs code and the smelly brakes are a coincidence and are unrelated but have the code downloaded and go from there.

good Luck,

Matt
