Truck Repair: Brake Light problem, test light, loose connection

1994 Silverado. Brake lights stopped working. Fuse ok. Changed out switch and now my brakes just flash for a second as I begin to press the brake pedal -- then nothing. The clip on the end of the post that holds the switch in place may not be reinstalled correctly, but i don't think that is the problem. Even when I hold switch in place it doesn't work correctly. Ever had this problem?

Just try replacing the fuse with another. Sounds like a real loose connection, and the fuse is a good place to start.
You could also use a test light at the fuse, and at the switch to see if power is staying on both sides of both the fuse and switch.
