I drive a 2000 ford excursion diesel and ran out of fuel--what do I do?

Hello,
Drag out the owners manual, and look for "Bleeding fuel system".
I don't know for sure if it will have that section, but that is what you will need to do.
There should be a bleed screw pretty high above the engine, probably right at the fuel filter. Loosen that screw, and activate the fuel pump till just fuel comes out.
You didn't give much information on engine size, but my power stroke engines have a mechanical fuel pump, not electric, so it only pumps when the engine is cranking over. If yours is the same...give the starter some cool off breaks.

You can shorten the bleed time by filling the fuel filter housing with clean diesel fuel before you start to bleed it.
