Truck Repair: 903 Cummins, greyhound bus, cyl heads

Question
Cliff I'm looking at buying a 1986 motorhome with a 903/350hp has 110,000 miles on it. Are these generally a good motor? I know a lot depends on how they have been taken care of. Is there something I should look for? Thank You for your time.

Answer
To tell you the truth,I have only seen one personally,& knew we had one in a vehicle(amphibious) that sat in our yard since 1979.They sold it to get it off our property 15 yrs later, they put new batteries in it,cranked it up & drove it on a low boy to haul it away.So they must be really rare or too good & dont tear up.But to be really frank,I would not purchase it because of getting replacement parts will be VERY expensive.I know some things like cyl heads on a 504/555 you can only get new for $5,000 for ONE head & it has two!I would go for a 5.9L or 8.3L in the 90s.But with an engine that big it must be a Greyhound bus size coach.
