Truck Repair: 2000 5.9L Cummins 24 Valve, cyl head, fuel flow

Question
My husband bled the water out of the fuel filter. And now it won't start. It ran fine before he did this. Does it need primed and if so what is the easiest way to do so?

Answer
They are a pain to get started after you get air in the fuel system.Assuming the transfer pump works,"bump" the starter & it will run for 20 secs each time.Do that 3 or 4 times, then loosen any fuel line on the cyl head while someone turns it over until you see good fuel flow.CAUTION!Fuel is high pressure so keep hands & face clear, just loosen line nut 1/4-1/2 turn & get away while watching for fuel flow...After you see good fuel flow, tighten the line & try to start.
