Truck Repair: fuel filter, filter connection, open flame

this is a ford 97 f-150 how do you release the pressure off the gas line to change out the in-line fuel filter, or do you pop off the ends of the line off the filter.

Hi JR,
For one thing, remove the gas cap to relieve the pressure that can be formed inside the tank.
Then I just stick a rag over the filter connection as I unhook it.
Don't do it inside a garage with an open flame or pilot light on a water heater lit, but not very much gas will leak out.
It isn't like it is going to spray a gallon of gas.
Let it sit a little while before starting the job.
