Hello Mike, I am having a problem with my 1994 Silverado 3500 pickup with a 6.5 turbo-deisel and automatic transmission. The speedometer will stay on zero and the transmission won't shift. The first time this happened, I pulled off the road and checked everything that I could think of but found nothing. I started the truck back up and it drove fine. It continues to happen more often now. I ran the codes test and 5 codes came up; DTC-16(vehicle speed sensor buffer fault), DTC-72 (vehicle speed sensor circuit loss-output speed signal)DTC-74 (transmission input speed sensor circuit) DTC-84 (accelerator pedal position circuit fault) and DTC-99 (accelerator pedal position 2-(5 volt reference fault). Also when I am driving, the speedometer will suddenly jump up from zero and the transmission will shift. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Mike

You just need the speed sensor.....It is about a $40 part..That should cure everything......Just had the same exact problem at my work this week!

Thankyou for the response, could you please tell me where the sensor is located and where I can get information on how to change it. I appreciate your help. Mike

Answer
After you pick one up at your local parts store, look for the sensor at the rear of the trans....with the new one in your hand...you wont mistake it for another sensor.  It is only held in with 1 bolt and takes about 5 min to R&R.(if I remember correct LOL)
