Truck Repair: Hi Van, I have a 1988 Ford..., ford econoline 350, ford econoline

Question
Hi Van, I have a 1988 Ford econoline 350 with a gas 460 as an engine.  When the engine gets hot after an hour or so it quits.  When I take the engine cover off or start the heater or when I travel at night, this does not happen. When it quits it turns over, but does not start. After about an hour, when it has cooled down, it starts again? Hope you can help me out.  Thanks.  Bruce.

Answer
Hi Bruce,
If it seems real hot under the hood, it may be vaporlocking the fuel in the fuel line. See if shielding the line from heat sources, like the exhaust manifold, helps. aybe even reposition it.
Make sure the cooling system is operating properly also.
