Truck Repair: 94 GMC Yukon stalling, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
I have a 94 GMC yukon 350tbi with 430k. The truck recently had a problem with hard starting and stumble /stalling off idle in any gear.  Mechanic changed timing chain/gears, TPS, fuel pump, ignition module, coil, distributor cap and rotor, and for some reason only three spark plugs.  Problem was finally solved with $10 distributor pick up coil.  After paying bill under protest and driving away from shop, truck stalled at first light.  Truck now starts fine,  runs until temp. starts to come up, and then the truck stalls.  The truck will restart but will stall without throttle,  if you put it in D or R the rpm drop the engine tries to increase rpm then they drop and engine either surges again or dies.  If you are driving and slow down when the speed gets to around 0mph truck will stall without throttle pressure.  Slight throttle pressure keeps engine running at stop and when switching between gears.  Truck pulls hard when accelerating and holds cruising speeds (50-75mph).  No service engine light, and the only computer code shows the ECM is working (code 12). Just need a direction, thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
Hello tconstantine,
I don't have an answer for you, but it sounds similar to a complaint I have heard discussed in a forum I frequent.
I have heard several times of the torque converter clutch solenoid valve not opening, and just dragging the engine down, is what I believe they are saying.
