I was afraid of that answer. I worked on older fords with the controller being the problem, I will need some help with this one. This morning I am going to buy a manual for this truck. I was hoping I wouldn't need one for longer than this.?! The glow plug light in the dash cycles normally. I will look in the owners manual for any info. on relays etc. Today I am also going back to where the truck is to see if it starts totally cold, that might tell me something. Thanks very much and I might be talking with you again. any additional info is welcome. I cringe at the thought of taking this to a shop or heaven forbid having it towed. I am in South New Jersey and shop costs are astronomical.  Thanks again.      Jim

Answer
There shouldn't be any reason to tow the truck.  You can use ether on a 7.3 with care.  Have someone help you.  Remove the air filter.  Have someone start cranking the engine, and spray a SMALL amount in the filter housing, and keep it limited to small squirts of ether.  Never spay ether into the engine without it already cranking.  Let me know if you need further help.
