Truck Repair: 1995 chevy silverado 5spd tranny clunk 2wd, chevy silverado, drive shaft

starting off -ok,crusing in 2nd,3rd,4th,or5th, on and off the gass you can hear a clunk, u-joints ok --under the truck ,truck in neutral ,rotating drive shaft -audible sound in rear end - end play in ring gear or axle, is this a service bulletin or what ,any sugestions before I start rippin. tnx MATT

Actually, that is probably backlash, not endplay, if you are rotating the shaft.
There is going to be a little, but if yours just started, guess I would look inside.
See if there is a drivetrain expert on this site.

At the public library, in the refference section, you should be able to find the shop service manual for your truck, and see what it says.

You will need to know if it is a locker, and probably some more info to find the correct specs. I just don't hardly ever need to work on one, so know very little to help you.
