Truck Repair: PCV Valve question, gmc sierra, valve question

Question
I bought an 89 GMC Sierra 2x4 w/ a 93' Z71 5.7 350 and it was leaking oil so I replaced  the valve cover gaskets, re-welded the dipstick holder in, replaced the plugs/wires/cap etc. It was fine driving around the block w/o leaking anymore but when I took it on the highway it was burning oil and white smoke was coming out the exhaust and under the hood. I looked under the hood and determined oil was spitting out of the end of the dipstick. I'm guessing its the PCV valve but have no other intuitions about it. It also had a small idle problem after the drive.
1. If it is the PCV valve, where is it?
2. If not what may be the problem, how should I resolve it?

Answer
Hello JT,
The PCV valve should be in a grommet in the drivers side valve cover, and connected by a hose to the intake manifold, probably right below the back side of the throttle body.
Replace that valve, and make sure that hose is open and sucking good, and not sucking flat when you plug it.
