Truck Repair: engine dies, flash flash flash, engine switch

1995 volvo n14 cpl 1807. had #5 pass trough connector replaced. when it went bad engine would cut off and had a miss. thought everything was fine until about 100 miles later. stop engine light and check fluids light came on and engine shutdown for about a second.at high idle or regular idle or going down the road it will quit for about a second. never completly dies but you never know when its going to do it. problem started when pass through connector went bad.any suggestions would be aprecciated. thanks russell

With the engine light coming on,thats a good thing.You now have a fault for a starting point to troubleshoot the problem.Does it have a "diagnostic" or "Check Engine" switch??If it does,turn it on & watch the flashing yellow & red engine lights.The red light come on steady for 1 sec,then flashes the yellow 3 digit code.When the 3 digit code has finished,the red light comes on for 1 sec & either flashes the same code or the next one.The 3 digit code will flash like this ie 434... Red stop eng light for 1 sec the yellow...flash,flash,flash,flash..(1/2 sec pause between digits)flash,flash,flash..(1/2 sec pause) flash,flash,flash,flash.Then the red light for 1 sec.Then the next code or only one code,same sequence will flash again.
