Question
I have a 1999 chevy s10 highrider 4x4 that will not come out of 4 by easily but will engage allrite. Tire preasure is the same all the way around . The front has had bearings done by gm dealer ,in fact all repairs were done by them. But found many screw ups on there behalf so i now want to do things my self that way i will know it's done right. If you can give me any info it would be most apreciated THANK YOU LR PS I am a small engine repair man.

Answer
Hi Larry,
The tire pressure is a good step in the right direction, but also check the tires for wear.
If the rear are more worn than the front, or vice versa, then the difference in circumferrence will generate a torque on the driveshafts and gearing that will tend to hold it engaged.
Try stopping, and changing direction when you shift from 4X to 2X. Back up a ways, and see if it disengages.
