Vintage Cars: mgb flasher switch removal, mg car, car repair

Question
Hi- I  have a1976 mgb. I am trying to get the flasher switch on the dash out. I disconnected the harness in back of the switch and the housing is loose but it will not come out. I don't want to force the issue and wondered whether there is a special tool to be used to release the guts of the switch from the housing or if the housing along with the switch comes out?

Answer
Sorry to be slow...

I don't know the car well enough, but I suspected the cheap clip-in design of the later B switches. To get it out you probably have to press the little tabs in on the back, one side at a time, while pulling/prying the switch from the front. More or less confirmed when I found this on Allexperts:

I wouldn't worry too much if you completely wreck the switch taking it out, and simply install a new one, which (once connected) is a push fit from the front. But once it clicks in, it's IN!
