Vintage Cars: vin number, chevy bel air, brake master cylinder

My tag on the door is gone. Where else is that number stamped at? Also will I be able to see it from under the car? I have a 1957 chevy bel-air 4dr ht can you help

This is somewhat outside my expertise, but a friend has a '56 Bel-Air and as I recall, there is a tag on the firewall near the brake master cylinder which contains the VIN. I have tried to reach out to him for verification, and will follow up when I hear back from him.
