Vintage Cars: car wont start, car wont start, needle valve

hi i need you help thanks ,i have a 73 mgb ,last fall i spent alot of money to get it running well,before i put it away for the winter gas started coming from a steel pipe near the gas tank,i put a bolt and washer around it to stop the leak ,thats when the problem started,it would not start anymore,today i have spent alot of time to get it started,i noticed alot of gas coming from the mouth of the carb0rator driping onto the frame,i have a after market fuel pump,electric,it ran very fast when it came back from the mechnaic .it did start a week ago first start but then stalled a minute later.i dont understand why it wood run a full sumer and not run at all

Just to confirm I got the question, but I have grandchildren visiting. I'll get back to you as soon as I can, probably middle of the week. If you have a moment, followup for me on the "bolt & washer" fix, and the "mouth of the carb". It's possible you've transplanted dirt from the tank connection into the needle valve, i.e. 2 problems. Also have a look at some of my previous SU carb answers if you have time before I get to it.
