Vintage Cars: Engine SWAP, cylinder diesel engine, transmission gear box

Question
Hi, me again from Kenya, East africa. I wanna swap my 123 115 (that previously had a 240d, details of engine I don't know) with a 602 engine. The car is a 1980 American with a mileage of 123000 miles. The problem with the 115 is consumption and the fact that it uses points and condenser... My question is, is the 602 engine, together with 5 speed manual transmission gear box a worth investment and what's its consumption like in kilometres per litre? Secondly, is it a better idea compared to the 102 engine, EFI? Thanks.
Cedric.

Answer
The Mercedes OM602 engine is a 5 cylinder diesel engine of 2497cc.
the 602 is a robust engine, and lasts a long time, being a diesel it does have less "electronic" parts. No condensor, plugs, points. It is powerful but not fast, manual tranny helps the performance  .It's considered to be the one of the most reliable engines ever produced, a success which is only comparable with the  OM617 engine.
Should get 11-12 km/l
Carb is troublesome on the 102, it is comparible to teh 115 engine, very low power

Are you going to use the transmission as well that is coupled to this engine.  that would be the best
