Vintage Cars: 1934 Ford 1 1/2 TON Pick Up, silly place, frame rail

Do you know where I can find the VIN number?  We have search the frame, body, everywhere and unable to find it or exidence of where it was.

I believe the VIN number is on the top of the driver's side frame rail under the cowl. (I know this seems like a silly place for it, but it is what it is.) When the vehicle was new, this number matched the engine number, but it's very common to have a different engine as they were swapped when you needed a rebuild. Do you have a title? - does the VIN on the title match the engine number? If you're trying to title/register, you can usually do this from the engine number, but different states have different rules.
