Vintage Cars: 1929 HupMobile, value originality, concours restoration

Question
My uncle has a 1929 Hupmobile but he is unsure of the value of the vehicle it is in pretty good shape. I don't have any pictures of it right now but, in great, good, fair, or poor condition can you give me an ideal. I would love to talk with you personaly or maybe over the phone. If you could email me back with an answer i would appreciate it...

Answer
A lot of variables go into establishing value. Originality, desirability of the particular body style, 6 or 8 cylinders, running or not, completely restored or preserved, the list is long. The top value for a '29 Hupp would be for either a 7 passenger Model M (8 cylinder) touring car or for the Sports Roadster - a concours restoration would bring in excess of $30,000. A poor condition 4-door sedan Model A 6-cylinder would bring $500-$2,000. The state of the economy enters into the equation as well. I would peg the value of a nice, running condition Model A 6-cylinder sedan at about $8-10,000, with a $2-5,000 premium for a Model M 8-cylinder. Obviously, the nicer the car, the higher the price - also, more desirable body styles such as coupes, roadsters or touring cars bring higher prices.
