Vintage Cars: 1978 280CE Heating problem, vacuum pipes, heater control valve

Question
QUESTION: OK I have reconnected all of the heating pipes, put a new belt on the air pump, put a replacement auxillary water pump on, but still no heat. I have notice a couple of what look like vacuum pipes under the glove compartment on the passenger side that are not connected to anything. How do I access these?
Michael

ANSWER: What color are the vaccum lines?  DO any of your vacuum related functions work?  Locks, cruise ect?
If the radiator  lines are hot going into the core  you should have heat, even if none of the vacuum related vents are working
do yourself a favor, disconnect one line going into heater core, test to see if you get flow  use air or water.

I am still leaning to the core as the issue

QUESTION: Hi Ron, Thanks for your answer, the unconnected vacuum lines under the glove compartment are white. Central locking works, I will try the cruise tommorow, but the aceleration part of the cruise works, but it did not seems to maintain the speed at 40 miles per hour. The air pump is a little noisy, but I guess thats OK for the moment. I also notice that the A/C compressor cuts in every now and then, with the compressor switch off. What else is related to the vacuum pump?
Michael

Answer
valve
valve
vaccum - vent flaps, door locks, trunk , fuel locks, cruise , shift points, brakes
If its under the dash, probably vent related
I cannot recall if your car has a monovalve. if so a failed monovalve is all heat or no heat
You can test the monovalve with the engine off by unplugging its 2-pin connector and applying 12 volts to the 2 pins for a short time only. Doesn't matter +/-. You should hear/feel a click or thud as the valve moves. You may even get a little spark as you remove one of the wires.

AC & Heater Control Valve; 3-Way Vacuum  look for this make sure it is connected -picture attached
I think it is under dash , but may be in engine bay
