Vintage Cars: 1998 E300 TD strange Vibration, proof seal, fluid changes

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a 98, E300 Turbo Diesel and I get a strange vibration when I'm in drive and presing the breaks. When it's in neutral or in park or when I drive it works fine, but ones I stop at a light, 5 times out of 10 it gives me a very strange vibration. It vibrates my hole car, but it seams like it's coming from the transmision. At first I thought it was the engine pilows, then the transmision pilows, but they are in good shape aslo.
Any Idea??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

ANSWER: if the vibration is from pressing on the brakes as when you are goign to stop , it most likely is a warped or bad rotor.  when was the last time the brake were renewed?  How many miles on the car

QUESTION: I can't figure out how to check the transmission fluid. There is no strip to measure the level of the flied. I'm not sure if that's how the Mercedes E300 are, or that's just my car like that. OR I have to go to the dealer...
Does anyone know how to check the transmission fluid? thank you!

Answer
MB maintenance manuals had the transmissions listed as "life time fluid"
requiring no fluid changes  NOT SO -  Change the trans fluid & filter with a the correct MB rated fluid for that transmission every 60+ miles
as far  as checking  there is a dipstick ( it may be secured with a tamper proof seal) .This is not a transmission dipstick but rather a workshop tool with which to measure the fluid level. Most take it to a dealer, particullary if you are not familiar with procedure
