Vintage Cars: w115 240D in 1973 220D, gear ratios, manual transmissions

Question
I put a rebuilt 240D from mercedes in a 1973 220D w115.110 a few years ago. I have a 1975 w115.117 240D also. It seems that the transmission &/or rear end gearing is different. The 75 seems to go much faster with less rpm's than the 73. What manual transmissions can I bolt up to the 73 to improve the performance and lower the rpm's? The 73 should have a 716.002 and the 75 a 716.003 I have seen posts about bolting up a 716.005 from a later model w123.125 240D. What are the gear ratios for these transmissions? Is the 716.005 essentially the same physically to bolt up?

Answer
well most manual trannys will require significant linkage and drive train alterations to change one year to a latter year, from auto to manual.  Manual to manual is a bit easier . Most MB within 1-2 years have little variance, especially if they are similar like the W114/115,to go to the w123 tranny is a bit of an issue as it will not be "bolt up" ready.  I do not have the ratios handy, I will try to did them up and post them to you
Good Luck
