Vintage Cars: 1966 T-Bird gas tank, vintage thunderbird club, thunderbird club international

according to my manual and repair work book it states my gas tank is US 22 gal. but every replacement tank being sold say to exact specs as original and they are 16.5 galls what is correct Thanks Joyce

I'd put my faith in what your owner manual states; the only data I could confirm is that the '64 came with a 20.5-gallon tank.  Considering the 64-66's appetite for fuel, it would certainly make sense that Ford would increase the tank size over the next two model years.  For final confirmation, I'd suggest you post your question on the forum of the following website:
