Vintage Cars: 1975 w115 300D manual transmission conversion, manual transmission conversion, vacuum lines

Question
QUESTION: Hello,  I have a 1975 300D with a blown transmission.  I would like to convert it to a manual transmission - I found a 4sp 240d 115 as doner car.  I am wondering if the 300D rear end will work with the manual transmission or If I would need to swap that out as well. If the rear end gearing is different for the manual / auto w115's would putting a manual trans in my 300D make my car rev higher or lower at highway cruising speed (75mph). Ideally I would like to have it geared so I get better highway mileage (lower rps in 4th gear).

ANSWER: well it depends on the year of the 240. If they are around the same year it probably will work.  Most MB guys recommend that if you are going to change out the drive train to do it all together , from tranny to rear end , especially if you are going from auto to manual. I am not sure about the RPM's I would think they would be close to the same.
Good luck

QUESTION: I have a few other questions regarding a w115 300D auto to manual
transmission conversion, if you have time.  Do you know if the 240D flywheel
(from a manual car) will bolt onto my 300D engine (1975).  Are there any
complicated or problematic things you know of when converting a car like
this.

Finally,  If I am going to install a used manual transmission from a 1975
240d, in my 1975 300D, what parts would you suggest inspecting /
changing (besides the clutch and master cylinder) before I install the
transmission.  Also, will the are there any problems /

Answer
you have some good questions, I would think the flywheels will match up, I would check all vacuum lines, and modualtor.
