Answer
Mario, I'm a bit confused. Hupmobile did not designate any of the cars it built as a "Model 57". Are you sure your car is a Hupmobile? The only 1932 Hupmobiles built were Models B-216, C-221, F-222, I-226, H-225 and U-237. In 1932, Hupmobile moved from a simple letter designation from previous years (such as the 1931 Models S, U, H, C, L) to the designations listed above; the first number designated the year (2 for 1932) and the last two numbers designated the wheelbase of the chassis (16 for the 116" wheelbase of the Model B-216, 37 for the 137" wheelbase of the 1932 Model U-237).

Perhaps you own a Graham - in 1932, Graham introduced it's ground breaking and extremely advanced Model 57 "Blue Streak" eight cylinder model. These cars were very advanced, being the product of the styling genius of Amos Northrup.

If you do own a Graham Model 57, you can purchase reproduction door handles and window cranks from a fellow by the name of Neil Butters, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. You can get all of the information you need from the website www.graham-paige.com, and visit the Graham bits and pieces for sale. He has an ad on that page with all of his reproduction parts and contact info.

If you are convinced you own a Hupmobile, you might be able to find some NOS pieces from the Hupp Factory Parts warehouse in Auburn Indiana. I was there last summer, and found a large quantity of 20's and early 30's door and window handles still in paper wrapping. If you have an example, and you send me a picture, I can help you identify the proper pieces and get you in contact with that warehouse.

Send your information to rboberjr@netscape.net.

Regards,

Dick.
