Vintage Cars: 1967 chevy chevelle 300 deluxe; 2 door sedan, rear quarter panel, 1967 chevy chevelle

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I am having the hardest time finding any information on the 1967 chevy chevelle 300 deluxe, 2 door sedan(2 door post), V6.  Model number 133117. I know that they are semi-rare because of my inability to find any. I had heard that they were the lightest and strongest of the chevelle body style and drag racers scooped them up to race.  We have one that we are re-storing and I am very interested to find out what the story behind them is and why they are so hard to find.  Can you help?

ANSWER:  Jennifer,
You might try to find the  book - Original Chevelle 1964-1972 By Jim Schild. It will have some good data for you.
My references revealed the following
The Chevelles from the mid to late 60's are all very collectable from the standpoint of muscle cars.  The Chevelle has a good following because they easy to work on and carry a nice vintage look.  They are favorable to racers of old because they were light and  the engine bay could easily be altered for different engines. they are also a favorite of the current muscle car folks for some of the same reasons.   In 1967 only 6578  6 cylinder 300 deluxes  were made, a little over 2 thousand 8 cylinder  were made. 8000 total.    This is compared to approx 12,000 300's ( non deluxe)
So from the standpoint of total numbers there are just not a lot around.  The eight cylinder 300 deluxe version is especially rare.
One other interesting note, the entry level El Camino is based on the Chevelle 300 Deluxe series.

Basic Information:
Chevelle 300 Deluxe: A rear quarter panel nameplate and a bright body sill molding identify the Chevelle 300 Deluxe series. Rear styling for sedan models include an emblem at the center of the rear cove panel and bright full width molding continuing under the tail lamp bezels. A slender emblem is positioned at the center of the station wagon tailgate. Front appearance is the as the Malibu Series.Interior features include a silver plated instrument panel upper trim molding and front door jamb switches that operate the dome lamp. Interiors are available in three color choices for the sedan cloth interior and the station wagon all vinyl interior. All vinyl embossed side walls and armrest, front and rear, are standard equipment. Passenger compartment and station wagon load floor covering is vinyl coated rubber, color keyed to the interior trim.

2-Door Sedan 6-cylinder curb weight - 3100
Hope this helps and good luck with your project

QUESTION: Thankyou so much! Would you happen to know how much these cars are possibly worth? My fiance has had this car since he was 11 and there is no chance of selling, but we are both very curious as to how much potentially it could be worth.

Answer
Well as they say, it depends! Ultimately it is what an individual is willing to pay! That said
As I mentioned the engine in this car (6 cyl) will decrease the value by 10% or so.
In a beat up needing a lot of fixing up condition - probably $3,500.  In concours condition $15-20,000.
A big range I know but that is the car market.  Folks interested in vintage cars are willing to pay big bucks for cars that are show and road worthy.  Good luck on your restoration
Happy Motoring!
