Vintage Cars: Chevy Malibu*, chevy malibu, general motors car

Question
Hi Jeff,
I use to own a Chevy Malibu with a pusbotton transmission,
I'm not sure, but in was either a 1964-1964.
Sure would like to find more info about it & try to find a toy model.
Do you know what years chevy made this car w/pusbotton auto transmission  ??
Thanks !!

Answer
Sorry to inform you, but the Malibu was never offered with a pushbutton transmission.  In fact, no General Motors car had one, as it was never made by GM.  Most people remember Chrysler Corp. for this feature, as nearly every one of their cars had it from 1957-1964.  Pushbutton selection of the gears was also offered in the 50's on Packards and Ramblers, along with a few Mercurys and the 1958 Edsel.  The closest Chevrolet came was the dash-mounted lever for the automatic-equipped Corvairs.  Maybe your thinking of another car you once had, and just confused it with the Malibu?  It happens all the time.
