Vintage Cars: 1962 v8 engine w/powerglide, classic chevy, v8 engine

Question
Just wondering what a engine like this is worth if it still turns over.  But has not been run in 7-10 years.

Answer
Some of the answer would depend on if the engine was a 283, 327 or 348 or 409.  IF it was out of a car or truck.

A 409 is worth much more, a 348 some less, and a 327 less yet.  The least valuable is the 283.

As an unknown quantity (is the tranny good?  no way to really know without either taking it apart or installing it) I would say a couple hundred for the 283, maybe a little more.  A 409 could be worth several hundred.

I recommend you check E-bay and see if these show up, also, read up on classic Chevy web sites, maybe join a couple of the clubs.  The National Impala Association is a good one to start with, you can google them and find their web site.  Give their owner a call, he might have a better idea.
