Vintage Cars: suspension, pontiac fiero, www eibach

Question
my pontiac fiero sits sorta low but i can't find any wheels bigger to fill up the fender wells so i was thinking about lowering the car about 1.5 coils. would i have change the struts out or can i keep the originals? they are not adjustable

Answer
Cutting coils is not the best way to lower a car.  First the old coils may break at some point.  Cutting coils may leave the system so that the coil comes loose when the car is jacked up.

Since you will have the struts off anyway, why not spend a few bucks and buy some aftermarket coils.

Check out Eibach springs, they make some for the Fiero.

Their progressive coil system lets you get a somewhat factory soft ride on small bumps, but firms up nicely in corners and at the track.  They will lower your car nicely but not put it on the ground.

You can also get custom wound springs from any number of places.  Just google coil springs and start looking around.

While doing this, consider putting on new struts.  Weak struts/shocks sometimes have a real hard time controlling new firmer springs.
