Vintage Cars: Olds 442 1969 Hood Stuck, pliars, best guess

Question
I replaced the adjustable hood "Bumpers" (I don't know the proper name) on my 69 Olds and when I closed the hood to check if they needed adjustment my hood "locked" shut.  My best guess is they were to high and this caused the hood to jamb some how (??). Now the normal mechanism to unlatch it seems to be stuck.  Any ideas how to overcome this?

Answer
The first thing to try is to have someone push down on the hood while someone else tries to use the lever.  Be careful not to put a dent in the hood!

If that doesn't work, you could try to see if you can get an arm up behind the grill and get ahold of the mechanism from behind.  Thieves do this all the time, so it should be possible, you may need a long pair of pliars or a scredriver to try to force the mechanism.  While there, try spraying the area with a lubricant.

Finally, if you CAN get to the mechanism and it still won't open, you may be able to unbolt the latch itself?

Beyond that, I would recommend taking it to a good body shop, they may have methods that you and I don't know about.
