A recent camping story went viral, when a deer entered a campground, wearing a powdered donut on its antlers. The RV owner walked up to the deer, and very carefully, removed the powdered donut from the poor guy’s head. He captured the entire thing on his phone for the whole world to see. Take a look:
This got me to thinking… What other types of wild and crazy stories do RVers have to tell? Here are a collection of a few TRUE stories shared by experienced (and not so experienced) RVers.
1. Recently, my husband and I pulled into a campsite run by the national park system. As we were setting up for lunch, we found ourselves invaded by a herd of deer. The deer examined our rig and our picnic. Finally, one of them picked up a bag of pickles in his mouth and walked off. Question: Do you think we should ask to be reimbursed for the pickles?
2. A gentleman parks his rig, and sets out to explore a large national park. As he roams, he discovers animals are grazing in most areas of the park. Alarmed, the RVer reports the situation to the park ranger. He asks, “Does the park ranger realize that the animals have gotten loose?” (Um, yeah… He thought he was visiting a zoo!)
3. Two ladies parked their vintage trailers at a national park. Once set up, they joined a group of 40 visitors on a guided hiking tour. After half an hour on the trail, they hear the guide’s walkie-talkie beep with this message: “There is a runner coming to your group on the same trail.” There was a pause. Then the words, “And he’s naked!” Silence followed by laughter filled the group! The two ladies picked up their pace, and pulled out cell phones to capture their first BUCK NAKED adventure. (Unfortunately, the naked man refused to make his expected appearance. No photos were taken.)
The RVing lifestyle teems with unexpected adventure. The best way to experience a good laugh is to get out there and “go wild!” You, too, might find a deer with a donut especially for you!
