The doors on a 1992 Chevrolet pickup tend to sag over time, particularly on the driver's side of the truck, where the doors are opened so frequently. This means that the door hinge pins need to be replaced. Once you change the hinge pins, however, the door strikers will no longer be aligned and you will have to adjust them to match the new position of the door striker.
Shut the door. Look at the body line underneath the window and line it up with the body line on the cab behind the door. Figure out the approximate distance that the body line on the door is below the body line on the cab, as this will be the approximate amount that you move the door striker.
Locate the Torx hole in the middle of the door striker. Loosen the door striker from the door jam with the 3/8-inch ratchet and a Torx socket, inserting them into the Torx hole in the center of the door striker.
Push the door striker up the approximate amount that you need to move it to line up the body lines on the door and the cab. Tighten the striker back down in its new location with the ratchet and the driver.
Shut the door. Look at the body line and make sure it matches up on both the cab and the door. Verify that the door sits flush with the cab as well. If necessary, loosen the latch and readjust as needed.
