The wiper motor circuit board module on your Chevy is protected by the outer casing of the wiper motor. The wiper motor circuit board module controls the function of the motor. If this circuit board becomes damaged, then your wiper motor will not work. Replacement wiper motors can be purchased from most auto parts stores, however, fixing the wiper motor circuit board module on a Chevy can be more economical if you have a soldering gun. Before you fix anything, though, you need to troubleshoot the circuit board module.
Open the fuse panel under the steering column and locate the fuse for the wiper motor. Use the fuse diagram on the underside of the fuse panel cover to locate the fuse for the wiper motor.
Pull the fuse for the wiper motor using the fuse pullers in the fuse box.
Check the metal strip in the fuse. If the metal strip in the fuse is burned or broken, then replace the fuse with a new fuse of the same amperage.
Open the hood and remove the 3 Torx bit screws holding the wiper motor casing in place using a Torx bit screwdriver. The wiper motor is bolted to the firewall in most Chevy vehicles.
Pull the wiper motor casing off, exposing the wiper motor circuit board. Visually inspect the circuit board for any damage. Check the wiring for any fraying or exposed wires. If there is any damage to the circuit board module, then you'll need to have it fixed, if possible. If the motor isn't working, you should be able to see some kind of damage on the circuit board module, where it is burned. However, if there is an electrical short, you may not be able to see anything. If the wiper motor isn't working, the circuit board module is bad since it controls the function of the motor.
