The 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora left General Motors assembly lines riding on 225/60-16 tires. Since the tire is merely a trap for the air that the Aurora rides on, losing that air through a puncture in the tire is obviously undesirable and often dangerous. Due to the growing number of accidents due to tire failure, General Motors began installing tire pressure monitoring systems in their vehicles in the late 1990s. Now, a tire pressure light will illuminate on your Aurora's dash to alert you of low tire pressure. Once you've corrected the issue, you'll need to reset the light.
Open the driver's door on your 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora. Locate the VIN tag -- a white sticker with the VIN number, a bar code and other information including tire pressure settings.
Set the tire pressures on all four tires to the number designated on the VIN tag, using compressed air to fill them and a digital tire pressure gauge to check the pressures; do not set the tires to the pressure noted on the tire sidewall, as that's a maximum pressure number and is not specific to your vehicle.
Insert the ignition key in the Aurora's ignition and turn the ignition cylinder to the "RUN" position.
Open the tire pressure reset switch compartment, located on the left-side of the dashboard, where the dash meets the driver's door -- you'll need the driver's door open to access this compartment.
Push down on the reset button located inside the compartment. Hold the button down until the Low Tire Pressure light flashes, and then release the button.
Close the tire pressure reset switch compartment door. Remove the key from the ignition.
